Hi I don't understand question 6 of the keyhole test 2. The triangular hole in choice D does not make sense because it seems as if the hole is not there. And I don't understand why choice A is wrong because I don't see how the top view doesn't have a square depression at the top. Thanks!

Hello aakbari3,

For a more detailed illustration of the answer for Chapter 2 Question 6, please refer to the attached video link. http://youtu.be/Q1Zy7R2N62M

Visualizing the 3D object in the PAT, specifically in the Keyhole section, does take a lot of practice. Don't let your eyes fool you. In the science of perspective, objects that are nearer appear bigger than those in the rear. In the case of this test, the protruding plane on the left top corner appears longer than that at the bottom plane. They are actually of the same length as seen on video. But if it really appears longer, letter A is still not an option because in the image, the right plane does look shorter on the right one.

In the case of the invisible triangle, notice that in the image, the lower outline of the 'tail' on the left where the 'invisible' triangle is coming from appears angular. On the right side, on the other hand, the 'tail' is cut in front allowing a possible opening to be visible on the right view. That's where the triangle becomes visible. And take note, letters B-D all have visible triangles in them. The testmaker is already hinting that there is a triangle present.

Hello Anthony,

The key consideration in assessing this object should be the diagonal cut located on its lower front side. Even in the given perspective, it already looks bent. Option C has straight, box-like sides, so it does not represent the same diagonal cut. B, on the other hand, represents the cut. So the correct answer is B. The other options are also incorrect as they show corners that do not correspond to the front view of the image.

Hi zlhu98,
You are absolutely correct! Option C is a valid option and so is option A. This error has already been corrected. Thank you very much for pointing this out.

Keyhole Test 5, Question 9
How can you tell that the cut outs at the bottom are the same size? i.e. why would the bottom halves of answers A and B not work? I'm not sure how to determine that they are the same length. Thanks!

Test 2, question 15. I don't see how it could be C because the bottom left rectangle has a hole in it. In fact, there are no viable answers, as A seems to come the closest, with the right middle rectangle being just a little shorter than it should be (but that's a judgment call).

Test 3, Question 2. Both C and E are viable options according to the front and right views of the object, respectively.
