The study about the gene is known as genetics. The human system is constructed by a structural and functional unit called cell. This cell contains so many cell organelles in it that perform specific functions. One such cell organelle is called the nucleus. Genes are present inside the nucleus. These genes are responsible for the functional activities of the cell. The genes in sperms and ovules are responsible for the hereditary. Genes are also important in cancer-related studies called oncology. Gene mutations are the root cause of cancer.
